Kentucky’s Louisville The Orange, who play the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday night here at the KFC Yum! Centre, will be without centre Peter Carey of Syracuse.

The 6-foot-11 centre Carey missed Friday’s team travel because of illness. Carey just made his way back into the game after missing four because of a concussion.

Maliq Brown and JJ Starling each scored ten points, while Taylor scored eleven for Syracuse (20-10, 11-8 ACC). The Orange shot 26 of 45, or 57.8%, which was crucial because they missed 14 foul shots, making 25 of 39, or 64.1%.

For Louisville (8-21, 3-15 ACC), Mike James scored 18 points, Brandon Huntley-Hatfield scored 17 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, and Kaleb Glenn scored 15.

With 9:49 remaining, Brown scored two foul shots, giving Syracuse a 64-47 lead. After then, Louisville outscored Syracuse 27–14 to close the gap to 78–74 on a 3-pointer by James with 39 seconds remaining.

Taylor was just 1 of 5 from the foul line at that point, so the Cardinals set him up for fouls late in the game. In response, he made 4 of 6 down the stretch to secure the victory.

Early in the game, Bell and Taylor both scored a dunk in a 20-second span, giving Syracuse an 11-7 advantage that they would hold the rest of the way. Syracuse led by nine points on several occasions before Louisville closed the gap to 29-26 with Tre White’s three minutes remaining before halftime, capping a 7-1 rally. Syracuse then responded with a 10- 2 run to take a 39-28 lead at the half, their first double-digit advantage in the contest.

With 14:57 remaining, James made a three-point shot and a slam to cut Louisville’s lead to 48-42. Syracuse increased its lead back to double digits with a 9–5 victory over the Cardinals. The Orange pulled ahead 64-47, but Louisville responded with a 17-9 run to pull even at 73-64.
