After strengthening the defense in the first week of free agency, the Miami Dolphins are reportedly interested in pass catchers.
Braxton Berrios was re-signed by the Miami Dolphins, but it seems like they plan to add more wide receivers to their roster. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald revealed on Sunday that the Dolphins made a query regarding Quez Watkins, a former wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Dolphins will bolster their receiving corps in light of the free agency losses of Cedrick Wilson Jr., Chase Claypool, and River Cracraft. They have a league-low $3.417,709 in salary budget space available. In 2023, Watkins, 25, was targeted 21 times and started nine games. He had 15 receptions and a touchdown at the end of the season.
Watkins, a slot receiver mostly, recorded a career-high 647 receiving yards in 2021. Despite only having one return during the previous season, the former sixth-round pick has 14 career returns with the Eagles.
With Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle demanding more than 18 combined targets per game last season, the Dolphins are in an unusual scenario. Players who can capitalize on fewer targets and those who can shoulder more of the load in the event that one of Hill or Waddle must miss a significant amount of time are what Miami needs.
