Roy Hodgson says that Crystal Palace’s ‘very talented’ ace is ‘injured’ and will miss the trip to Aston Villa.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has revealed that one of his players is out for the Premier League encounter against Aston Villa.

When Crystal Palace is playing challenging opponents away from home, you want your best players available for selection.

Unfortunately for Roy Hogdson, this does not appear to be the case, as he revealed during his news conference that midfielder Jefferson Lerma is hurt.

Hodgson said during his press conference that the player sustained an injury while on international duty. “Lerma is also injured,” remarked the manager. He underwent a scan this morning, so I can’t get into specifics, but it’s related to his hamstring. I’m not sure how serious that is.”

Jefferson Lerma has an injury during the international break.
The Columbian international joined the club on a free transfer during the summer transfer window and has been an amazing revelation.

It was excellent business, and he not only added some strength in midfield, but he also gave Cheick Doucoure greater flexibility to press forward.

It has worked well for the club, and there is little doubt that Lerma has contributed significantly to their seven points in their opening four games.

As a result, learning that he has a hamstring injury is a huge setback. Hopefully, it will not be a long-term issue, but it appears that we will have to wait and see.

For the time being, Palace must devise a game plan without the ‘very talented’ midfielder. Will Hughes is eligible to play in that position, so they have some depth there.

Lerma will undoubtedly be missed, but Palace should be able to win without him against Villa.

Crystal Palace takes on Aston Villa today, and one man should be sacrificed from the starting lineup to improve the team’s attacking quality.

Crystal Palace has had a strong start to the Premier League season. They have two wins, one tie, and one loss.

Over the international break, they sat in seventh place with seven points, and this upcoming encounter will be a true test for both sides to see if they can compete in the top half or the bottom half.

If the Eagles can defeat an Aston Villa side that qualified for Europe last season, it will be a huge statement of purpose, and losing one player will see them become a more dangerous attacking threat.

One player should be dropped by Roy Hodgson.
Jeffrey Schlupp has not had the ideal start to the Premier League season. Due to the club’s lack of options in that position following Wilfried Zaha’s departure, the versatile player is being asked to play on the left wing.

This season, the 30-year-old has started all four games, although he has yet to score or assist.

When replacing Zaha, you need to provide more in attack, and Roy Hodgson may be better off dropping the player to improve the quality of attack.Jefferson Lerma - Player profile 23/24 | Transfermarkt

When Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson substituted the £50,000-a-week player against Wolves in their previous game, the Eagles appeared to have more attacking flexibility.

The team scored two goals, with Jean Philippe-Mateta, Schlupp’s successor, providing two assists. Meanwhile, Eze was shifted into Schlupp’s position and scored a goal as well.

Unfortunately, Schlupp is offensive, and the Eagles need to make sure they have the strongest attacking options starting, or they may struggle to break down a difficult Villa side.
