After the Browns game, Justin Fields’ teammates are confused about his future.
All season long, the Bears have been fielding inquiries regarding quarterback Justin Fields’ future. In recent weeks, as the picture of the 2024 NFL Draft has begun to take shape, those questions at Halas Hall have become more pressing.
It is vital to inquire about Fields’ future and his teammates’ feelings regarding the uncertainty surrounding it as the Bears prepare to embark on the next stage of general manager Ryan Poles’ rebuild. However, it’s doubtful that those queries will produce any fascinating results. The players for the Bears adore Fields, recognize his talent, and believe he should start at quarterback going forward.
When asked by Cleveland media about quarterback Josh Fields’ future in Chicago, a number of Bears players expressed their feelings about the quarterback after the team’s humiliating 20-17 loss to the Browns at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Sunday.
Following the defeat, wide receiver Darnell Mooney declared, “Justin is the quarterback of the future.” “He is the quarterback for the team. He has been having fun. Why there are so many more questions is beyond me. Of course, Carolina currently gives us the [projected No. 1 pick], but Justin is a dog. He’ll be balling somewhere else if he’s not here. Though Justin is a dog, I’m not the one who makes those decisions. He’s going to the ball wherever he is if it’s not here.”
Prominent wide receiver DJ Moore has previously expressed his emotions regarding Fields. Moore appeared surprised that Fields’ future was even a question when it was raised a few weeks ago. He doesn’t see his time in Chicago as a one-year experience because he was brought here to forge a strong partnership with Fields.
Moore became defensive when the media in Cleveland brought up the topic.
Moore replied, “I don’t know,” when asked why Fields’ future in Chicago is being questioned. “Last week, you guys asked me that. Still thinking, “Bruh, where are all of you seeing this?” Why is he currently not the Chicago Bears’ starting quarterback?
“I understand that all of you are coming out. There are, what, two of them? Justin is not superior to [Caleb Williams and Drake Maye], in my opinion.”
After the disaster in Cleveland, the Bears are now 5-9, and the entire attention needs to switch from an unlikely playoff run to what should be a transformative offseason.
The Bears realize that a strong finish would eliminate most of the questions surrounding Fields’ and head coach Matt Eberflus’ futures, even though they may be sick of hearing them.
