When it comes to Jaylen Brown’s knee injury, Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is not in a panic.

Brown’s right knee hyperextension prevented him from playing in Monday night’s away game against the Toronto Raptors. This season, it’s only the third game that he has missed.

Prior to the Celtics star’s game against the Raptors, Mazzulla provided an upbeat update on Brown, indicating that he is not concerned about the injury.

According to an NBC Sports Boston video, Mazzulla told reporters, “He’s doing well.” My knee hurts a little. He received treatment today, attended shootaround, and is anticipated to be fine moving forward.

In a 145-113 rout of the Houston Rockets, which also saw the return of Ime Udoka, Brown was coming off one of his best performances of the year, putting up 32 points on an incredibly efficient 11-for-15 shooting from the field in addition to six rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks.

It’s possible that the Celtics are taking advantage of Brown’s minor injury to give him a night off. Prior to the Celtics’ game against the Raptors, who Boston has already defeated three times this season, Brown had played the most games of any player on the team. Boston likely believed it could win without Brown’s assistance.
