Three things to remember from Alabama basketball’s crushing road defeat to Auburn
The Crimson Tide men’s basketball team lost a hard SEC match on Wednesday at Auburn, falling to the Tigers 99-81. Throughout the game, the Tide rarely looked like they were playing.
With the defeat, UA’s season record dropped to 16-7. On the road on Saturday, the Tide will take on LSU.
Here are three things to remember from the rivalry defeat before that.
One squad has won all four games in the Iron Bowl of basketball the last two seasons. On Wednesday, the streak came to an end. The Tigers got back at them for the home-court defeat they suffered in January at Coleman Coliseum.
The Crimson Tide’s chances of winning the SEC regular-season championship were harmed by the defeat. Alabama led going into the game, primarily because of its victory over the Tigers.
Oats said of Auburn, “They came out and played like it was for first place. It was for first place.”
At the top of the table, there was a tie due to Auburn’s victory. Tennessee is 7-2, South Carolina is 8-2, and the Tide and Tigers are all 8-2.
When Auburn went inside, the Crimson Tide had a hard time putting up much resistance. Throughout the game, Alabama simply had no counter for Tiger big man Johni Broome.

This season, UA isn’t particularly strong in the paint. After serving his suspension, Nick Pringle was unable to stop Broome.
