After joining the NFL, Ryan Grubb discusses Austin Mack, Kalen DeBoer, and Alabama.

At a press conference on Thursday, Grubb said, “That’s where I was,” introducing himself to reporters covering the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL. You understand what I mean? Taking on the role of offensive coordinator down there was the main objective.

Ryan Grubb was resigned to his fate in Tuscaloosa. After following Kalen DeBoer from Washington, the former offensive coordinator for Alabama football was prepared to take on the SEC after losing out on the Husky head coaching position.

This place wasn’t set up. I had to keep moving forward with the job I had taken, which was the Alabama offensive coordinator position, because Mike (Macdonald) was going through his process and trying to make the best decisions he could for the Seahawks.

Grubb wasn’t speaking from the podium in the Mal Moore Athletic Facility, of course. He was being presented as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, a position he accepted without having coached a single Crimson Tide game.

During the 2023 NFL Combine, he had met Macdonald, the new head coach of the Seahawks. Macdonald was the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator at the time.
